In the book Little Women by Louisa May Alcott, Laurie has interest in Josephine march who you will learn about in the Jo and Jo 2 section of this website. Laurie's parents died young so Mr.. Laurence his over protective grandfather acts as his caretaker. Laurie spends most of his time away from home or being tutored by John Broke to get into Harvard. Mr. Laurence becomes friends with Beth mainly because he loves to hear her play piano. For this reason he gets Beth her very own piano which makes all the other girls jealous of Beth's skill and new piano. In the middle of the book Laurie saves Amy when she fell through the ice when she was skating. After Harvard he proposes to Jo and gets rejected. Later in the book he is desperate to become part of the March family so he proposes to Amy who is now much older and accepts.
