Little Women has so many sacrifices that occurred through-out the book. Most of the sacrifices were for and from the March family. The first sacrifice of this book was when the sisters and Marmee gave Mr. March permission to go off to the Civil War. They sacrificed their father's life to save their country. Another example was when the March family gave another poor family clothing and food to stay alive. It was a sacrifice because they knew they lost some of their only clothes and food. Towards the middle, there were even more sacrifices made. When Mr. Laurence gave Beth the piano that was his granddaughter's. He sacrificed the only part of his granddaughter he had left. Also when Meg sacrificed her personality to impress others and she then became snotty. Mrs. March sacrificed her family and herself to help her husband and make sure that he lived. She could have lost her beautiful girls. She left them in the care of their maid, Hannah, who could have lost them or not known how to help them if they needed it. Beth sacrificed herself when she went over to the Hummels. The baby of the Hummel's family had scarlet fever. Beth knew and she took care of it anyway. As and effect Beth got horribly sick and almost died. The sacrifices in this book were both good and bad, but they ended up alright and had a solution to every problem.
